A BBC New Generation Artist 2013-15, he will perform with numerous BBC Orchestras and appear regularly on BBC Radio 3 broadcasts. His first solo album, "Poems," was released in 2013 on Harmonia Mundi's new Aparté label, featuring music inspired by poetry, including Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit and a group of Schubert-Liszt transcriptions. He has appeared as a concerto soloist around the globe with the London Philharmonic, L'Orchestre National de Lyon, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, Weiner Symphoniker, Orchestra of St. Luke's, L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Orchesta della Svizzera Italiana, Basel Symphony Orchestra, Japan's Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the BBC Symphony, Philharmonic, and National Orchestra of Wales, among others. He also appears with several U.S. orchestras this year, including the New York Arcos Chamber Orchestra, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, and the Fort Smith Symphony, and gives recitals at New York's Rockefeller University and Lucerne's KKL Konzertsaal. Mr. Schwizgebel has appeared to acclaim as soloist in many of the world's most selective concert halls, including Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Kultur Casino in Berne, and the Tonhalle in Zurich, and has given recitals at Wigmore Hall in London, Merkin Hall in New York, the Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano, Gianadda Foundation in Martigny, and at the Vancouver Recital Society in Canada. He has toured Europe as soloist under the baton of Fabio Luisi and has toured China as soloist with both the Shanghai and Shenzhen Philharmonics under the baton of Christopher Escher. Festival appearances include performances at the City of London Festival, Bergen Festival, Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, Festival Septembre Musical de Montreux-Vevey, Ohrid Summer Festival, Midem Cannes Festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and at the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Young Concert Artists Festivals in Tokyo and Beijing. He captured top Prizes at the 2012 Leeds International Piano Competition and at the 2005 Geneva International Piano Competition along with the Audience Prize and the "Coup de Coeur Breguet" Prize, which sponsored his first disc, "Louis-Schwizgebel-Wang." First Prize Winner in both the 2007 Young Concert Artists European Auditions in Leipzig and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York, Mr. Schwizgebel won rave reviews for his New York debut at Carnegie's Zankel Hall in the Peter Marino Concert and his Washington, D.C. debut at the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater. He also received nine special YCA awards: the John Browning Memorial Prize, the Paul A. Fish Prize, the Peter Jay Sharp Concert Prize, and concerts in the Brownville Concert Series; at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Princeton University Concert Series, Vancouver Recital Society, and at the Usedom Festival in Germany. Mr. Schwizgebel was born in Geneva. His mother, who is Chinese, and his father, who is Swiss, are both visual artists. He gave his first performances at the age of nine, and at fifteen captured three Prizes in the Swiss Youth Music Competition: First Prize, the Prize for the Best Interpretation of a Swiss work, and the Paderewski Prize. Mr. Schwizgebel earned his "Soloist's Diploma" from the Lausanne Conservatory as a student of Brigitte Meyer before studying with Pascal Devoyon at the Universität der Künst in Berlin. He worked with Emanuel Ax (YCA Alumnus) and Robert McDonald in the Artist Diploma program at The Juilliard School, where he was awarded the 2012 Arthur Rubinstein Prize in Piano. He currently resides in London and works with Pascal Nemirovsky.
